Knucklecove Pirate Board Game Template
by ShuffleKit
A whole pirate treasure hunt for kids to print and make your own, in jungle green and sunny gold: a game board at 8 × 8 inches with a sandy trail of numbered spaces across an island map from the shipwreck to the pirate's chest, with card, crab and vine spaces; challenge, boost, shield and busted cards at poker size with one back; an explorer standee for each player; a treasure tally score sheet; and a poker tuck box laid out flat on its dieline. Roll and move, stop on a card space and draw: thumb-wrestle your nearest rival to leap ahead, grab springy sandals, or slip on a banana and slide back. Every name, number and rule is text you can retype, and every picture is a column you can swap. Comes with the board, 20 sample cards, four explorers, the score sheet and the box.

| Name | Description | Points | Card Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thumb Wrestling | Show who's strongest! Thumb-wrestle your nearest rival, and pin their thumb down while you count to three. | 5 | Challenge |
| Rock Paper Scissors | Best of three against your nearest rival. Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! A tie doesn't count, so go again. | 3 | Challenge |
| Hot Hands | Rest your hands on your rival's. They try to tap yours before you pull away. Swap, and first to two taps wins. | 4 | Challenge |
| Odds and Evens | Call odd or even, then you both show one to five fingers on three. Add them all up, and call it right to win. | 2 | Challenge |
| Snap Duel | On the count of three, you both snap your fingers. The first loud, clear snap wins. Nobody snaps? Go again. | 2 | Challenge |
| Shell Flick | You and your nearest rival take turns flicking a coin along the table. Closest to the edge without falling off wins. | 3 | Challenge |
| Mirror Paws | Your rival makes five finger shapes, one at a time. Copy each one before they count to two. Miss none to win. | 4 | Challenge |
| Steady Finger | Balance a coin on one fingertip and count to ten out loud. Your nearest rival tries too. Drop it first and you lose. | 3 | Challenge |
| Springy Sandals | They put a big bounce in every step you take along the trail. Move twice as many spaces as the die shows you. | 2 | Boost |
| Treasure Compass | It always points the right way to the buried treasure. Roll the die twice, and move by the better of the two. | 2 | Boost |
| Bamboo Raft | Ride the river the long way round through the jungle. It's still quicker than walking! Add two to every roll. | 3 | Boost |
| Lucky Shell | Hold it up to your ear and you can hear the sea. Rolled a one? Roll again, and keep the new number instead. | 3 | Boost |
| Leaf Cloak | Nobody can see you, so nobody can pick you for a challenge. Walk straight past every duel on the trail. | 2 | Shield |
| Hammock Hideout | No challenges and no Busted cards can reach you up here. Drew one anyway? Put it back and draw again. | 3 | Shield |
| Jungle Fog | A thick white mist rolls in over the whole trail. Your rivals lose sight of you, and you slip past every challenge. | 1 | Shield |
| Quicksand | You stepped in soft sand and sank right down to your knees. Wriggle out backwards the way you came in. | -3 | Busted |
| Crab Pinch | Ouch! Something hiding under the sand just grabbed your toe. Hop back down the trail while you shake it off. | -2 | Busted |
| Banana Slip | Somebody dropped a banana peel in the middle of the trail. Whoops! You slip and slide backwards on it. | -1 | Busted |
| Lost Map | A gust of wind snatched your map right out of your paws. Retrace your steps to find where it landed. | -4 | Busted |
| Rolling Coconut | A big coconut comes bouncing down the hill straight at you, and you run the wrong way to dodge it. Oops! | -2 | Busted |
Printing the boards, cards, tokens, score pads and boxes
Boards: Square Board, 8 × 8 in, 203.2 × 203.2 mm, 2400 × 2400 pixels at 300 DPI. With an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge, a board goes out as 2475 × 2475.
Cards: Poker, 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI. With an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge, a card goes out as 825 × 1125.
Tokens: Large Standee, 1 × 2.25 in, 25.4 × 57.2 mm, 300 × 675 pixels at 300 DPI. With an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge, a token goes out as 375 × 750.
Score Pads: Small Score Pad, 3.5 × 5.5 in, 88.9 × 139.7 mm, 1050 × 1650 pixels at 300 DPI. With an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge, a score pad goes out as 1125 × 1725.
Boxes: Poker Tuck Box, 54 cards, 7.75 × 6.5 in, 196.9 × 165.1 mm, 2325 × 1950 pixels at 300 DPI. With an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge, a box goes out as 2400 × 2025.
On the Hobby plan, export a print-ready PDF with bleed and cut lines, each part at its own size. PNG and SVG come out at the same sizes, which is what Tabletop Simulator wants. On Indie, send the game to a print-on-demand partner through Print & Ship. The export adds the bleed: let the artwork run into it and keep the text inside the cut line.

What happens when I add Knucklecove Pirate Board Game Template to a project?
The one board design, five card designs, one token design, one score pad design, one box design, their fields, one sample board, 20 sample cards, four sample tokens, one sample score pad and one sample box are copied into one project of yours, with the fields already pointed at the designs: the boards in a collection of their own, the cards under All cards, the tokens in a collection of their own, the score pads in a collection of their own and the boxes in a collection of their own. Nothing stays linked to this page afterwards, so the author's later edits never reach your copy.
What size does Knucklecove Pirate Board Game Template print at?
The boards are Square Board size, 8 × 8 in, 203.2 × 203.2 mm, 2400 × 2400 pixels at 300 DPI. The cards are Poker size, 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI. The tokens are Large Standee size, 1 × 2.25 in, 25.4 × 57.2 mm, 300 × 675 pixels at 300 DPI. The score pads are Small Score Pad size, 3.5 × 5.5 in, 88.9 × 139.7 mm, 1050 × 1650 pixels at 300 DPI. The boxes are Poker Tuck Box, 54 cards size, 7.75 × 6.5 in, 196.9 × 165.1 mm, 2325 × 1950 pixels at 300 DPI. Those are the numbers to hand a print shop, and each part exports at its own size.
Is Knucklecove Pirate Board Game Template free?
Yes. Adding it, editing it, filling it with your own cards and playtesting it online are all free. Exporting print files starts on the Hobby plan, and Print & Ship through The Game Crafter is on Indie. No template sits behind a paid plan.
Can I change the designs?
Yes. They land in your project as ordinary layouts, so you can drag an element somewhere else, put your own art behind the frame, restyle the type or rename a field. Edit a design once and every board or card or token or score pad or box drawn on it follows.
Can I use my own boards, cards, tokens, score pads and boxes instead of the samples?
Yes. The boards, the cards, the tokens, the score pads and the boxes each have a sheet, and the samples are rows in them, there to be overwritten. Type over them, add rows of your own, or bring a CSV and match its headers to the fields.
Can I sell a game made with Knucklecove Pirate Board Game Template?
Yes. This one is ours, and you keep commercial rights to what you build from it, crowdfunding and retail included.
Ready to build your card game?
This template is free, and so is the editor it opens in.
