Farkle scoring chart

What each combination scores. Only dice from the same roll count together, so three 5s kept from three different rolls are three single 5s, worth 150.

This is the scoring most Farkle tables use and the one the Tumbrell sheets print. House rules vary: some boxed sets score three 1s at 300, and some tables double the points for each die past three of a kind. Agree before the first roll. To print your own, change a line in the editor or type it into the House Rules column.

How to play Farkle

For two or more players with six dice and a pen. Players take turns, and only the points a player banks count.

  1. Agree the target

10,000 is usual, and 5,000 makes a shorter game. Decide too whether a player needs 500 in one turn to get on the board. Most tables do.

  2. Roll and keep

Roll all six dice and set aside at least one that scores: a 1, a 5, or a combination from the chart. Keep as many scoring dice as you like.

  3. Bank or roll on

Bank the turn's points and pass the dice, or roll the dice you have left to try for more. Every roll you push risks the whole turn.

  4. Farkle

A roll with no scoring dice is a farkle. The turn ends and every point it made is lost.

  5. Hot dice

When all six dice have scored in one turn, pick them all up and roll again, adding to the same turn's points.

  6. The last round

When a player reaches the target, everyone else has one last turn to beat it. The highest total wins.

What are the basic rules of Farkle?

Each turn you roll six dice and keep at least one scoring die, then either bank the turn's points or roll the rest for more. A roll with nothing that scores is a farkle and loses the turn's points. The first player to 10,000 starts the last round, and the highest total after it wins.

What is the minimum score to get on the board?

500 in a single turn at most tables: until a player banks that much at once, their turns score nothing. Some tables use 350 or 1,000, and some play with no minimum at all. Write yours in the house rules box.

Do you have to score exactly 10,000 to win?

No. Reaching 10,000 or more starts the last round, and everyone else gets one turn to pass that total. The highest score then wins.

Can you reroll all six dice?

Only when all six have scored in the same turn, which is called hot dice. You pick them all up and keep adding to the turn, and a farkle on that roll still loses everything the turn made.

Is Farkle played with five or six dice?

Six. Older dice games of the same family, often called Ten Thousand, are sometimes played with five, and then the combinations that need six dice, such as three pairs, cannot come up.

Can I download the Farkle rules without signing up?

Yes. Each PDF on this page has two pages, the rules sheet and four scoring cards, on Letter or on A4, with no account needed. Print them at actual size: each sheet is 8 × 10 inches on either paper.

How do I print our house rules on the sheet?

Add the template to a project, which is free, and type your rules into the House Rules column of a Rules Sheet row. They print in the box at the foot of the sheet. Exporting the PDF to print is on the Hobby plan.

Where do we keep score?

On a Farkle score sheet: a column for each of up to six players and the scoring printed at the foot. It is free to print too. The Farkle score sheet, free to print.
