A five-colour fantasy trading card set drawn as stained glass, with White, Blue, Black, Red, Green, Multicolor, Colorless and Land fronts and a shared rose window back, poker size and print-ready. A border of leaded glass panes runs round each card in its colour, the name sits on a frosted plate with the cost pips at its right end, the picture fills an arched window, and a type line, a rules plate with a flavour line and a power and toughness box sit beneath it. Every pane, came and plate is an editable shape, and the colour you pick on a card chooses its front; a card whose type line says Land goes to the amber land front. The cost is an icon column with the five coloured pips and the numbers ready to pick, and the power box hides on a card with no attack. Comes with a ten-card sample deck: seven invented creatures, a land, a spell and an artifact.

From this template to a finished set

Each card's colour is a column in the sheet, so three hundred cards across five colours are still one project and one list.

  1. Add the template to a project

    Free. It copies the eight fronts, the back, the columns and the ten sample cards into a project of your own, and nothing the author changes later reaches your copy.

  2. Fill in the sheet

    One row per card: name, cost, type line, rules, flavour, power and toughness. Pick the cost pips from the palette, or import a CSV of the whole set and map your column names onto the template's.

  3. Set each card's colour

    The Color column chooses the frame, so a Red card draws on the garnet glass and a Multicolor card on the harlequin border. A card whose type line says Land goes to the amber land front by itself.

  4. Export or print

    PNG files for Tabletop Simulator or a playtest, a print-ready PDF with bleed and cut lines, or Print & Ship for a boxed deck from a print-on-demand partner.

How big is an MTG card?

It comes up on this search more than any other question. The template is poker size, half a millimetre bigger each way, because that is the size print shops cut and the one every card sleeve is made for.

One sleeve fits both sizes. Keep the name, the rules and the numbers on the frame's plates: the border of glass runs out into the bleed, and a stack of cards is never trimmed in exactly the same place twice.

Is this an official Magic: The Gathering template?

No. Leadlight is an original frame drawn for ShuffleKit. It follows the layout of a Magic card, with the cost at the top right and the power and toughness at the bottom, but the frame, the colours, the cost symbols and the back are ours, and it carries no Wizards of the Coast logo, symbol or artwork.

Does it cost anything?

No. Adding it to a project, editing it and downloading the blank frames are all free. Paid plans are for exporting in bulk and for printing.

Can I download a blank MTG card template?

Yes, without an account. There is a PNG and an SVG of each of the eight fronts at 825 × 1125, which is poker size with an eighth of an inch of bleed. The picture window is left clear, so an image on the layer underneath shows through, and the SVG keeps the cut line and the safe zone on a layer of their own.

How do I add the cost symbols?

Cost is a column of pips you pick from a palette: a coloured mark for each of the five colours, the numbers 0 to 10 and an X. The marks are shapes of our own (a triangle, a wave, a crescent, a spark and a hexagon), and the whole icon catalogue is a search away if you want a set of your own.

What about spells, artifacts and lands?

Leave Attack empty and the power and toughness box hides, so a spell or an artifact uses its colour's front like a creature does. A card whose type line says Land moves to the amber land front whatever its colour.

Can I print cards made with it?

Yes, cards you design yourself. It is built at poker size, so the print PDF comes out with bleed and cut lines, and Print & Ship sends a deck to a print-on-demand partner from inside the project. Printing copies of existing cards is a different thing, and not what this template is for.
