Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template
by ShuffleKit
A printable paper dice template that folds into a real 2 inch die, one die to a sheet of Letter or A4. The cube net has glue tabs, a solid cut line and dashed fold lines. Type what goes on each face in the sheet, one row per die, and add a picture to a face for story dice or classroom dice. Four designs come with it: classic pips, big numbers, pictures with words, and a blank die to draw on. The eight sample dice include a story die, a sight word die, a maths die of + − × ÷ and an animal moves die for PE. Face 1 folds opposite Face 6, Face 2 opposite Face 5 and Face 3 opposite Face 4, so a die numbered in order adds up to 7 on opposite sides like a real one.

What’s in Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template
Four designs: Words & Pictures Die, Classic Pip Die, Number Die and Blank Die.
Your paper dice live in a sheet, one row each, with a column for every field the designs read: Name, Face 1, Face 2, Face 3, Face 4, Face 5, Face 6, Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3, Picture 4, Picture 5, Picture 6 and Die Type. Eight of those rows arrive filled in, so there is something on the design before you type a word.

How to make a paper dice
You need scissors and glue, or double-sided tape. A ruler helps the folds.
- Print the sheet on card stock or thick paper if you have it. Each sheet makes one die with 2 inch (5 cm) faces.
- Cut along the solid outline, tabs included. Stay on the line at the inside corners where a tab meets a face.
- Fold along every dashed line, faces and tabs alike, so the print is on the outside. A ruler held along the line gives a sharp crease.
- Fold the faces up into a cube and glue one tab at a time under the face it meets, holding each for a few seconds. The top face closes last.
- Roll it. Face 1 is opposite Face 6, Face 2 opposite Face 5 and Face 3 opposite Face 4, so a die numbered 1 to 6 in order adds up to 7 on every pair of opposite sides.
Printing a paper die at home
Each sheet is one die with 2 inch (5.1 cm) faces. On the Hobby plan, export a PDF on Letter or A4 and it comes out one die to a page.
Leave crop marks off. The cut line is already drawn round the net, tabs included, and crop marks would only mark the corners of the sheet.
Card stock of around 200 to 250 gsm makes a die that keeps its corners; ordinary printer paper folds too and makes a lighter one. If your printer shrinks the page a little to fit it, every face and tab shrinks together, so the die is a touch smaller and still folds square.
Questions about Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template
Everything you need to know before getting started.

How do I make story dice or word dice for my class?
Each die is a row in the sheet. Type a word in each of Face 1 to Face 6 and set Die Type to Words & Pictures; add a picture in Picture 1 to Picture 6 and the word prints small under it, or leave the picture out and the word fills the face. The samples include a story die, a sight word die, a maths die of + − × ÷ and an animal moves die for PE. Add a row for every die and print one sheet each.
Which numbers go on opposite sides of a die?
On a standard die the opposite sides add up to 7: 1 and 6, 2 and 5, 3 and 4. The template folds Face 1 opposite Face 6, Face 2 opposite Face 5 and Face 3 opposite Face 4, so a die typed 1 to 6 in order comes out right. The classic pip die and the number die are set up that way, and the map in the corner of every sheet shows where each face lands.
Can I make a blank die to draw on?
Yes. Set a row's Die Type to Blank and it prints six empty white faces with a soft border, ready for a pen or stickers before or after you fold it. The Blank Die in the samples is one.
What happens when I add Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template to a project?
The four designs, the 14 fields and the eight sample paper dice are copied into a project of yours, with the fields already pointed at the design. Nothing stays linked to this page afterwards, so the author's later edits never reach your copy.
What size does Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template print at?
Each sheet makes one die with 2 inch (5.1 cm) faces. The net and its tabs are drawn on an 8 × 10 inch sheet, so it prints the same on Letter and on A4, and the room around the net carries the folding steps and a map of where each face goes.
Is Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template free?
Yes. Adding it, editing it, filling it with your own cards and playtesting it online are all free. Exporting print files starts on the Hobby plan, and Print & Ship through The Game Crafter is on Indie. No template sits behind a paid plan.
Can I change the designs?
Yes. They land in your project as ordinary layouts, so you can drag an element somewhere else, put your own art behind the frame, restyle the type or rename a field. Edit a design once and every paper die on it follows.
Can I use my own paper dice instead of the samples?
Yes — the samples are rows in a sheet, and they are there to be overwritten. Type over them, add rows of your own, or bring a CSV and match its headers to the fields.
Can I sell a game made with Clatterby Printable Paper Dice Template?
Yes. This one is ours, and you keep commercial rights to what you build from it, crowdfunding and retail included.
