Quillspire Trading Card Template
by ShuffleKit
A free trading card template with a classic frame: Creature and Spell fronts and a matching back at poker size, printable blank or filled in. Each card has a name bar with the cost in a disc, a picture window, a type line with a rarity gem, a rules box with flavour text, attack and defense plates, and a set code and card number. Every word sits on a cream plate, so it prints cleanly and takes a pen, or type your cards into the sheet and print them finished. The border takes each card’s faction colour, six of them, and the gem its rarity. Comes with a 24-card sample deck for an original game: creatures and spells with real, playable rules text.

What’s in Quillspire Trading Card Template
Three designs: Creature Card, Spell Card and Card Back.
Your cards live in a sheet, one row each, with a column for every field the designs read: Name, Cost, Artwork, Type, Description, Flavor Text, Attack, Defense, Rarity, Number and Faction. 24 of those rows arrive filled in, so there is something on the design before you type a word.

| Name | Cost | Type | Description | Flavor Text | Attack | Defense | Rarity | Number | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cinderhorn Ram | 2 | Creature — Beast | Swift (This creature can attack on the turn it arrives.) Whenever Cinderhorn Ram defeats a creature, deal 1 damage to the opposing player. | It does not climb the mountain. It argues with it, one burning headbutt at a time, and it always wins. | 3 | 2 | Common | 001/024 | Ember |
| Ashwing Drake | 4 | Creature — Drake | Soar (This creature can ignore Guard when it attacks.) When Ashwing Drake arrives, deal 2 damage to an enemy creature and 1 damage to the opposing player. | Wherever its shadow passes over the fields, the farmers have learned to start counting the haystacks. | 3 | 3 | Uncommon | 002/024 | Ember |
| Magmaw, the Kiln Wyrm | 7 | Creature — Wyrm | Soar When Magmaw arrives, it deals 2 damage to every enemy creature and to the opposing player. Your other Ember creatures get +1 ATK. | The great forges of the Ember spires were never built. They were simply set down wherever Magmaw slept. | 7 | 6 | Legendary | 003/024 | Ember |
| Flare Volley | 3 | Spell | Deal 3 damage to a creature and 1 to the opposing player. If that creature is defeated, draw a card. If you control an Ember creature, deal 1 more damage to the opposing player. | The canyon still glows at night, long after everyone has agreed to stop asking who started it all. | Common | 004/024 | Ember | ||
| Reefshell Sentinel | 3 | Creature — Crab | Guard (Enemy creatures must attack a creature with Guard before anything else.) At the end of your turn, remove 1 damage from each creature you control. | The tide goes out twice a day. The Sentinel, as far as anyone can tell, has never gone anywhere at all. | 1 | 5 | Common | 005/024 | Tide |
| Mistfin Ray | 2 | Creature — Ray | Soar When Mistfin Ray arrives, look at the top two cards of your deck. Put one into your hand and the other on the bottom of your deck. | Sailors take it as a sign of a calm crossing. The fish take it as a sign to swim a great deal faster. | 2 | 2 | Common | 006/024 | Tide |
| Abyssal Lanternjaw | 6 | Creature — Leviathan | When Abyssal Lanternjaw arrives, return an enemy creature that costs 4 or less to its owner's hand. The first time you cast a spell each turn, draw a card. | Its lantern is the last light most things in the deep ever see, and the first one they ever trust. | 5 | 7 | Rare | 007/024 | Tide |
| Undertow | 2 | Spell | Return a creature to its owner's hand. Its owner can't play it again until the end of their next turn. If it costs 3 or less, draw a card. If you control a Tide creature, draw two instead. | The sea keeps everything it takes. Now and then it lends a little back, to keep the sailors coming. | Uncommon | 008/024 | Tide | ||
| Mossback Tortoise | 4 | Creature — Tortoise | Guard At the start of your turn, remove all damage from Mossback Tortoise and gain 1 Vigor. | Three villages, two rivers and one small forest have lived on its back so far. Nobody has complained. | 2 | 6 | Common | 009/024 | Thorn |
| Brambleclaw Lynx | 3 | Creature — Cat | Swift While you control another Thorn creature, Brambleclaw Lynx gets +1 ATK and +1 DEF. | You will hear the briars rustle once. By the time you hear them again, it is already far too late. | 3 | 2 | Uncommon | 010/024 | Thorn |
| Elderhorn Stag | 6 | Creature — Beast | When Elderhorn Stag arrives, gain 4 Vigor. Your other creatures get +1 DEF. Each time another of your creatures is defeated, gain 1 Spark and 1 Vigor. | When it walks the old wood, the trees lean close to hear it pass and the saplings stand a little taller. | 5 | 6 | Rare | 011/024 | Thorn |
| Wildgrowth | 1 | Spell | The next creature you play this turn costs 2 less. Draw a card. If you drew a creature, you may show it to your opponent to gain 2 Vigor. If it is a Thorn creature, gain 4 Vigor instead. | Leave a ruin alone for a hundred years and the forest takes it back. Ask nicely and it takes an afternoon. | Common | 012/024 | Thorn | ||
| Sunmote Wisp | 1 | Creature — Spirit | Soar When Sunmote Wisp is defeated, gain 3 Vigor. If it was the only creature you controlled, draw a card. | Follow one home at dawn and it will lead you to a meadow that was never on any map you have owned. | 1 | 1 | Common | 013/024 | Dawn |
| Gilded Griffin | 4 | Creature — Griffin | Soar When Gilded Griffin arrives, remove all damage from a creature you control. That creature gets +2 ATK until the end of the turn. | It nests only on the highest peaks, where the sun arrives first in the morning and leaves last at night. | 3 | 4 | Uncommon | 014/024 | Dawn |
| Solmane, the Noon Lion | 6 | Creature — Lion | Guard Your other creatures get +1 DEF. At the end of each of your turns, gain 1 Vigor for every creature you control. | At noon its mane outshines the sky, and every shadow in the valley goes to hide behind something else. | 5 | 6 | Legendary | 015/024 | Dawn |
| Daybreak Ward | 2 | Spell | Choose a creature you control. It gets +1 DEF, and all damage that would be dealt to it this turn is prevented. Gain 2 Vigor, or 4 if you control a Dawn creature. | The storm broke against the hill all night. In the morning not one petal on the shrine had moved. | Common | 016/024 | Dawn | ||
| Duskmoth Swarm | 2 | Creature — Moth | Soar When Duskmoth Swarm is defeated, your opponent discards a card at random. | They rise out of the dead wood at dusk and carry off every dream left lying about in the dark. | 2 | 1 | Common | 017/024 | Gloom |
| Gravelurk Spider | 3 | Creature — Spider | Venom (Any creature it deals damage to is defeated.) Gravelurk Spider can't attack the opposing player, only their creatures. | The crypt has one rule: never touch the webs. The spider has never once seen the need for rules. | 1 | 3 | Uncommon | 018/024 | Gloom |
| Nightcoil Basilisk | 5 | Creature — Serpent | When Nightcoil Basilisk arrives, defeat an enemy creature with 3 ATK or less. Then your opponent discards a card. | The swamp grows very still when it surfaces. Even the mist thinks twice about drifting any closer. | 4 | 5 | Rare | 019/024 | Gloom |

| Brass Scarab | 1 | Creature — Construct | When it arrives, gain 1 Spark to spend this turn. While you control Brass Scarab, your other Constructs cost 1 less to play. | Every tinker in the high spires claims to have built the first one. The scarabs are not saying. | 1 | 2 | Common | 022/024 | Neutral |

How to use the Quillspire trading card template
- Add the template to a project. It brings the Creature and Spell fronts, the back, a column for every field on the card and the 24 sample cards, which you can keep, rewrite or delete.
- Type your cards into the sheet, one row each, or import them from a spreadsheet. Name, Cost, Type, the rules and flavour text, Attack, Defense, Rarity and Number each have a column, and the picture goes in Artwork.
- Pick a Faction for each card and its border takes that colour: red, blue, green, gold, purple or slate. Rarity colours the gem on the type line. A card whose type line says Spell moves onto the Spell front, which has room for longer rules and no stat plates.
- Change the design once to change every card: the set code, the fonts, the colours, or the faction names and their colours in the sheet.
- Export the deck as a print PDF, or as images for Tabletop Simulator, and print the back on the reverse.
Printing at poker size
Poker: 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI.
On the Hobby plan, export a print-ready PDF with bleed and cut lines. PNG and SVG come out at the same size, which is what Tabletop Simulator wants. On Indie, send it to a print-on-demand partner through Print & Ship.
A printer asks for an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge on top of those numbers, so this card goes out as 825 × 1125. The export adds it. Let the artwork run into the bleed and keep the text inside the cut line, and nothing arrives trimmed.

Can I print this trading card template blank?
Yes. Add a few empty rows and print them: a card with nothing filled in lands on the Creature front and prints the frame alone, with the name bar, the cost disc, the picture window, the type line, an empty rarity gem, the rules box and both stat plates left clear. Every plate is cream with a black outline, so a printed sheet takes a pen or a marker. Leave Faction empty for a slate border, or pick one for a coloured blank.
How do I print the cards at home?
Export a print PDF, which comes with the Hobby plan: nine poker cards, 2.5 by 3.5 inches, to a sheet of Letter or A4, with the backs lined up for two-sided printing. Print one test sheet to see which way your printer turns the page, then use card stock of around 300 gsm.
Can I use it for my own trading card game?
That is what it is for. The sample game's words, Sparks for cost, Vigor for life and keywords like Guard and Soar, are only text on the sample cards, so rewrite them as your own rules. Rename the factions, change their colours, and swap the QSP set code for your set's, and the template becomes your game's frame.
What happens when I add Quillspire Trading Card Template to a project?
The three designs, the eleven fields and the 24 sample cards are copied into a project of yours, with the fields already pointed at the design. Nothing stays linked to this page afterwards, so the author's later edits never reach your copy.
What size does Quillspire Trading Card Template print at?
Poker size: 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI. Those are the numbers to hand a print shop, and the ones to check a sleeve against.
Is Quillspire Trading Card Template free?
Yes. Adding it, editing it, filling it with your own cards and playtesting it online are all free. Exporting print files starts on the Hobby plan, and Print & Ship through The Game Crafter is on Indie. No template sits behind a paid plan.
Can I change the designs?
Yes. They land in your project as ordinary layouts, so you can drag an element somewhere else, put your own art behind the frame, restyle the type or rename a field. Edit a design once and every card on it follows.
Can I use my own cards instead of the samples?
Yes — the samples are rows in a sheet, and they are there to be overwritten. Type over them, add rows of your own, or bring a CSV and match its headers to the fields.
Can I sell a game made with Quillspire Trading Card Template?
Yes. This one is ours, and you keep commercial rights to what you build from it, crowdfunding and retail included.
Ready to make your own trading cards?
This template is free, and so is the editor it opens in.
