Squintle Face Guessing Game Template

by ShuffleKit

A printable face-guessing game template for your own photos: a character card with a picture, a name and six traits to ask about, and a card back. Put in photos of your family, your class or your friends, type each person's name, and fill in the traits the questions are about: colour, ears, pattern, hat, glasses and scarf, or traits of your own. Print the deck three times. Each player lays out one copy face up and turns faces down as the answers rule them out, and the third copy is the pile each player draws a secret character from. Poker size (2.5 × 3.5 in), nine cards to a sheet of Letter or A4. Comes with 24 sample characters to swap for your own photos, cartoon animals from a fox in a bobble hat to a dalmatian in a beret.

What’s in Squintle Face Guessing Game Template

Two designs: Character Card and Card Back.

Your cards live in a sheet, one row each, with a column for every field the designs read: Name, Photo, Colour, Ears, Pattern, Hat, Glasses and Scarf. 24 of those rows arrive filled in, so there is something on the design before you type a word.

How to play Squintle

You need the deck printed three times: one copy for each player to lay out, and one for the mystery pile.

  1. Print the deck three times. Each player takes one copy and lays all 24 characters face up in front of them, four rows of six, so the other player cannot see them. Shuffle the third copy face down: it is the mystery pile.
  2. Each player draws one card from the mystery pile and keeps it hidden. That is their mystery character, the one the other player has to find.
  3. Take turns asking one question that can be answered yes or no, such as "Does yours wear a hat?" or "Does yours have floppy ears?" The tags under each name are the traits to ask about.
  4. After each answer, turn face down every character on your side that the answer rules out. If yours wears a hat, every character without one goes face down.
  5. On your turn you can guess instead of asking: name a character. Guess right and you win the round; guess wrong and you lose it. First to win three rounds wins the game.

Printing at poker size

Poker: 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI.

On the Hobby plan, export a print-ready PDF with bleed and cut lines. PNG and SVG come out at the same size, which is what Tabletop Simulator wants. On Indie, send it to a print-on-demand partner through Print & Ship.

A printer asks for an eighth of an inch of bleed on every edge on top of those numbers, so this card goes out as 825 × 1125. The export adds it. Let the artwork run into the bleed and keep the text inside the cut line, and nothing arrives trimmed.

Questions about Squintle Face Guessing Game Template

Everything you need to know before getting started.

Still have questions? Contact us

How do I make it with my own photos?

Type your people's names over the sample names in the Name column, and name each photo the same way, such as Grandma.jpg. Then choose Add images by file name… on the Photo column, pick the folder and tick Replace pictures that are already there: each photo lands on the card with its name. A square photo of a face looking at the camera works best, because the picture window is square and crops to fill.

Can I print it at home?

Yes. Export a print PDF, which comes with the Hobby plan: nine cards to a sheet of Letter or A4, with the backs lined up for two-sided printing. Print it three times on card stock. The two boards can stay uncut if you cover each face you rule out with a coin or a button; only the mystery pile has to be cut into cards.

What questions work with family photos?

Anything the photos show that has a yes or no answer: glasses, a hat, a beard, earrings, hair colour, a smile with teeth. Rename the six trait columns to the ones that tell your people apart and pick each person's answers, so everyone at the table agrees on them before the game starts.

What happens when I add Squintle Face Guessing Game Template to a project?

The two designs, the eight fields and the 24 sample cards are copied into a project of yours, with the fields already pointed at the design. Nothing stays linked to this page afterwards, so the author's later edits never reach your copy.

What size does Squintle Face Guessing Game Template print at?

Poker size: 2.5 × 3.5 in, 63.5 × 88.9 mm, 750 × 1050 pixels at 300 DPI. Those are the numbers to hand a print shop, and the ones to check a sleeve against.

Is Squintle Face Guessing Game Template free?

Yes. Adding it, editing it, filling it with your own cards and playtesting it online are all free. Exporting print files starts on the Hobby plan, and Print & Ship through The Game Crafter is on Indie. No template sits behind a paid plan.

Can I change the designs?

Yes. They land in your project as ordinary layouts, so you can drag an element somewhere else, put your own art behind the frame, restyle the type or rename a field. Edit a design once and every card on it follows.

Can I use my own cards instead of the samples?

Yes — the samples are rows in a sheet, and they are there to be overwritten. Type over them, add rows of your own, or bring a CSV and match its headers to the fields.

Can I sell a game made with Squintle Face Guessing Game Template?

Yes. This one is ours, and you keep commercial rights to what you build from it, crowdfunding and retail included.

Ready to build your card game?

This template is free, and so is the editor it opens in.
